This past year we have donated plants and worked with garden educators and parents at the Alice Fong Yu school garden to grow culturally relevant vegetables and herbs.
With a team including garden coordinator @david_pon, @cjadallah, parent volunteers, and kids ranging from elementary through middle school we planted a winter garden, complete with greens and vegetables like Yu Mai Tsai, or A Choy, Taichung snow peas, and Gai Lan. We also established a perennial bed with Ju hua and Jo Tsai, or Chinese chives. Extra plants were potted up in recycled Chinese newspaper pots 🌱
It was truly a joy to work with multiple generations in the garden and to have conversations and connection with our cultural plants!
